The best way to buy is direct from the lingerie manufacturer or through a lingerie distributor they work with. This lingerie distributor stocks his merchandise, and often gets deals on closeouts that are largely unavailable to retailers. This gives the factory distributor the edge, and results in lower priced garments than those that can be purchased direct from the factory, in many instances.
Importers have become a very large group in the industry, with countries like China exporting the largest amount of lingerie goods in the world. See our lingerie stats for figures on this. The importer generally stocks the goods in house. An exception would be orders taken for a large distributor who has purchasing power for container loads of lingerie goods.
When importing container loads, there is a substantial lead time in delivery of the goods. We advise purchasing in this volumn only when ALL the following criteria have been met.
- You have personally met with the importer and viewed their operation
- You have ordered small quantities of the goods numerous times
- You have approved of the quality of goods you have received on prior orders
- The goods you are buying are from the same manufacturer as past orders
- You have a firm delivery period in writting
- You accept the terms of the contract including any no return policy
- You have created a sales network to move out the goods quickly.
It is important to note that salvage lingerie goods may include customer returns. We do not advise dealing with lingerie salvage due to health regulations. While the goods may be very inexpensive, you will need to destroy all under garments. This means that under garments that come with babydolls, chemises, bra sets, bustiers sets and other lingerie styles will have to have suitable panties to replace those you destroy, or will have to be sold without the panties, thongs, or g-strings that originally came with the garment, from the factory. This will significantly lower the resell value of the garment, and your ROI.
